DAY TOUR FROM ROME TO BAGNOREGIO & ORVIETO (car and walking tour)
With our Bagnoregio and Orvieto private tour we’ll show you two beautiful samples of hilltop towns surrounded by unique countryside landscapes.
We’ll pick you up from your hotel in Rome and drive you to Medieval town of Civita di Bagnoregio (100 km/62 miles North of Rome), birthplace of the philosopher St. Bonaventure in the early 13th century, the village, also known as the “dying town”, has a population of about 10 people, it stands on top of a plateau of volcanic tuff rock and can be reached by a walking bridge only. We’ll then continue our Bagnoregio and Orvieto private tour driving some of the most beautiful countryside of central Italy to reach Orvieto, the Etruscan Velzna that was annexed by Rome in the third century BC, it is situated on the flat summit of a large butte of volcanic tuff; now days appears like a well conserved Medieval town where, after lunch in a typical restaurant, we’ll visit the Cathedral: a great sample of Romanesque/Gothic architecture with, beside other beautiful decorations, the frescoes masterpiece by Renaissance artist Luca Signorelli.
